Review on πŸ”§ Enhanced Fuel Module: Delphi FG0811 by Ryan Saxton

Beware of incorrect items

I have not written many reviews for products purchased through Revain. I'm a regular guy unaffiliated with any company that could benefit from this review. I value and value other reviews very much, so I felt it important to let you know about my experience. I did a lot of research to prepare for a failed fuel pump assembly in my wife's 2002 Suburban. I only want to do this once so I went for a better Delphi FG0811 fuel pump. Trust me there is a much clearer version out there. You can even buy "refurbished builds" at half price. That's good, but this time I was willing to pay the extra money for Delphi. The price of this pump is typically about $100 cheaper online than at your local auto parts store. Stable around 230-260 dollars. I then found this module at Revain for about $165. I know. Buyer beware. but it was listed as the new Delphi FG0811 by someone who appears to have a long history of selling auto parts. I ordered the product and received it quickly. But a few things didn't look right: 1. There were no instructions (which should have been). Packaging and labeling felt "home made”2. The device did not look like a Delphi device. Completely different. Note that 100% of all searches I've done on a Delphi device have always shown a consistent image. It wasn't!3. The device looked new but had some signs of wear which is unusual for a new device. (like the metallic coating on the sensor that the float arm touches as it floats up and down with fuel and sends signals to the fuel level sensor) The foam float was also slightly damaged (even my 12 year old son noticed this and asked why I got damaged part) So back to the larger online store where I usually buy parts. They sell a wide range of fuel pumps and I found the exact same fuel pump that I just received. Model color, fuel line color and configuration, electronic connectors, float arm orientation, exact match! This is a redesigned ReTech fuel pump that sells for around $120. Curse. Now I'm just feeling ripped off and explaining all the above issues I've encountered. Angry Wife, Destroyed Husband Syndrome. :) This explains why it was so much cheaper than any other device available. Anyway, I'm going through all the steps with Revain to get it back. Pay return shipping and then I have to deal with the seller. The seller was always quick with email exchanges, confirming that it was a surplus they bought and therefore the packaging and instructions were missing. They had to wait for the unit to arrive to confirm it was the wrong part. Then, if it was the wrong part, they refunded me in full and (after I asked) the shipping costs. When they got it they said it was a Delphi device. I stood my ground and told them that this is definitely not a department of Delphi and they should be aware and act responsibly. If I had been a less knowledgeable customer it would have worked, but this time I knew better. After letting them know the make and model of what they sent, I received a full refund and $5 shipping (even though it had cost me $16 to return it). So now I had 2 weeks of free time, a few bucks for shipping, and a lot of hassle that I didn't want. But I got my money back, so they did the right thing on that front. I have since placed my Delphi order at a major online auto parts store, which arrived a few days later. Comes with instructions, no signs of use or wear, it looks nothing like the unit I just returned and looks 100% like the Delphi units advertised on the online marketplace. Eureka! So be careful. I am not saying that this supplier often follows this practice. but it did and presumably they will come back and register it again. I hope they advertised correctly this time.
