Review on LG 38WN95C-W: Ultra-Wide Curved Monitor with High Connectivity, 3840x1600P Resolution, 144Hz Refresh Rate by Ben Sears

This is the closest you can get to a PERFECT performance monitor

I have been looking for a high end ultra wide monitor for my Macbook Pro 15 for a very long time and after buying and returning several monitors from different manufacturers this is absolutely the PERFECT monitor for me. I like the 38-inch size and it's a definite step up from the regular 34-inch ultra-wide screen, which I've always missed in vertical space. The screen gets so blindingly bright that I have to turn it down to 25 during normal use, but when watching videos the switch to HDR is amazing. I'm not a big gamer but the 144Hz refresh rate spoiled me forever and I love it. The overall picture quality is excellent. It still doesn't quite match my Macbook Retina display or my LG OLED TV in terms of brightness and contrast ratio, but it's really close and to be honest, you won't find a better screen among consumer monitors. (Better than even Samsung's Quantum Dot VA panel.) The only downside is the absurd price, but once I got mine I realized it was worth the investment. In combination with Thunderbolt 3, I can well imagine using this monitor for the next 10 years. I've heard of people complaining about the screen peeling around the edges and I understand where they're coming from, but if you weren't looking for it you wouldn't even notice. If you are reading this and are looking for a monitor that can do EVERYTHING, buy this monitor now. I promise you won't regret it. Great product from LG.
