Beautiful Knitted Lace Book

Anne Merrow has created a beautiful book of knitted lace patterns from issues of Interweave magazine. The book has a section on the endless possibilities of lace and sections on yarn sources, but the bulk of the book is patterns. These patterns are amazing. Some of them are mapped, others are advertised. Most of them appear to be mapped. I prefer to knit from the written patterns, but I may be in the minority. As I leafed through this book, a few patterns struck me: The Arctic Diamond Thief by Donna Druciunas is beautiful. It requires fine yarn and is knitted in a beautiful shade of orange. It was originally published in the book Arctic Lace. Evelyn Clark sailboat shawl in bud lace pattern which requires fine yarn. It is knitted in an off-white and drapes beautifully over the shoulders. The Fountain Pen Scarf by Susan Pierce Lawrence "will be literary in this triangular scarf that features a classic fountain pen lace motif." It is knitted from openwork yarn in a pleasing pewter colour. The Forest Path stolen by Faina Letuchaya is based on Russian and Shetland traditions. Three lace patterns - fern, birch leaves and lily of the valley - are knitted from Entrelac. Qiviuk Webs Tam and Scarf by Gayle Roehm is knitted with a yarn that is very close to my heart. Nothing is lighter and warmer than kiwiuk. Scattered throughout this book are "Lace Lessonsโ€: A guide to lace knitting, overlapping and pinning, and shaping lace garments. All in all, this is a must-have for any knitter who enjoys lace knitting. It's definitely not for beginners. Most of the patterns are designed for experienced intermediate or advanced knitters.
