Review on ๐Ÿ  Maxi-Jet Pro Pump for Aquariums: 3-in-1 Powerhouse by Marineland by Jennifer Corbett

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Too loud for a show tank. Great for everything else.

I got a great discount so I bought three. These pumps are noisy and you can hear the impellers/propellers rumbling all the time. My guess is that this is due to the "slacker" manufacturing tolerances for the impeller for a given price; and i have disassembled and reinstalled the impellers to try and fix the problem with some tweaks but the noise persists. I think a better analogy would be to think of an unbalanced ceiling fan that starts to wobble a lot. A slight "wiggle" will cause excessive noise/vibration. It is much louder when tuned in circulating mode with a propeller compared to auxiliary pump/head mode which uses an impeller. I wouldn't recommend using a demo tank unless you care about excessive noise. As soon as I installed it, my wife asked what that annoying noise was. However, they are perfect for pre-mixing salt in a container in your garage as they move a lot of water and come with everything else. Accessories for different modes. in summary. Would I buy again just for water circulation. If it was intended for my show aquarium, then definitely not. You get what you pay for and I will replace them on my display. I hope this review helps you with your purchase decision!
