I used them oriented horizontally to hang a garage door opener. They've been installed for a few weeks and are surviving, but they're around 30 degrees so I'm not sure how long they'll last. If I were to do it again I would use a stronger version. I've added a wire rope as a safety catch in case they break, so I don't mind testing them to failure if I remember I'll update this review if they break. Update: 2 months old and they are holding up well. The temperature in my garage is probably 120 Fahrenheit.
