I ordered size 8-9 for my daughter, who typically wears size 7-8. The elastic is a little tight. The length is cute on her. When she is wearing the dress, there is still plenty of stretch to the elastic, so it isn't actually tight on her, but snug enough that it isn't as comfortable as a similar dress that she wears. She wants to keep it in this size, so it must not be too tight.
