The main problem with these thermocouples is that the pins on the connector are not made from thermocouple materials (chromel and alumel). Using it with an inexpensive reader will not cause additional problems, since the internal wiring in the reader is most likely also made of ordinary copper. If the connector pins and the reader have different temperatures, the displayed temperature will not be correct and the displayed value will drift until the temperature equalizes. Using these thermocouples on an expensive reader creates the same problem, even if the reader's internal wiring is made of thermocouple materials.
