Review on ๐ŸŽฎ ASUS TUF Gaming B550-PLUS AMD AM4 Zen 3 Ryzen 5000 & 3rd Gen Ryzen ATX Gaming Motherboard with PCIe 4.0 and HDMI 2.1 by Casey Mann

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good board, good price.

I finally managed to get my hands on a 6700XT from AMD so I decided to upgrade from B450 to B550 to take advantage of PCIe Gen 4 for my GPU and M.2 NVMe drive. Installing the I/O shield wasn't too difficult, but some of the brackets had to be bent slightly to fit properly. The Ryzen 5000 series is ready. I didn't have to use the old CPU or BIOS Flashback, it just worked out of the box with my Ryzen 5 5600X. Pro's - Ryzen 5000 Ready - 3 M.2 slots (as far as I know, only M2_1 slot supports PCIe Gen 4) - M.2 heatsink - CPU fan CPU / CPU OPT connectors. My air cooler has 2 fans and I had to put them in series on my old B450 (ASUS TUF B450M Pro Gaming) - Additional AIO pump head + 3 case fan heads. Cons - Only 1 M.2 heatsink is provided despite using racks. on two M.2 slots. I had the heatsink installed on the board on M2_2, but I placed my drive and heatsink on M2_1 - The case fan headers could have been placed better. One is southwest of the CPU socket, which easily attaches a rear exhaust fan. The other two are at the very bottom of the board. I use 2 fans on top and 3 in front. I had to connect the top fans to the front ones, so I have 5 fans on the same header. In general, the purchase is satisfied. I liked my ASUS TUF B450M Pro Gaming so I decided to keep the same brand by switching to the B550 chipset. I recommend a good board at a reasonable price for the B550 line.
