Review on πŸ”§ Edelbrock/Russell 672450 Brake Hose: Superior Performance and Reliability by Mark Fleming

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Big improvement over stock

Installed these on my 2004 Z71 4x4 Tahoe. The construction looks and feels like premium Edelbrock/Russell. This is dirty work. I stuck old ear plugs into the hoses to slow the brake fluid dripping while I tightened the nuts. Get a good 14mm snap-on or GearWrench. My Craftsman nut wrench was thrown in the trash (it bends and starts rounding brake line nuts). The pedal feels crisp and feels more immediate. Before the exchange, there was a backlog. I did this job at 123,000 miles and the only symptom I tried to treat was a gray dusty residue in the master cylinder reservoir and I thought it might be coming from inside the original brake lines. The originals were quite flexible, with no cracks or dents anywhere. Bleeding the brakes got rid of the gray dust, but it returned after a few weeks, so stock lines and stainless steel lines were installed. I would recommend this part although it is not designed for use with the "Stabilitruck" electronic traction control system. It comes with 5 lines, Stabilitrak trucks need 6 lines. I don't think 4WD cars with limited slip differentials came with the Stabilitrak so it was a perfect match for my truck. I would give this 5 stars except that the brake lines don't follow the standard trajectory for the lines (under, not over the upper arms). I would happily pay $20-$30 more for lines that follow the standard route.

Pros
  • Good stuff
Cons
