Review on Magnavox ZV427MG9 DVD Recorder / VCR with Line-In Recording (Tuner Not Included) by Cody Wuol

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works great with DVD-VCR combos

I didn't realize no tuner means no standard coax input either. This is a problem if your cable box ONLY has a coaxial output. With a little ingenuity, by hooking up this unit to the DVD/VCR box that was supposed to replace it, I can now watch/record what's on the TV. This works until I find a suitable RF converter at Walmart. This is a great device, but note that it doesn't support coaxial cable input. If your cable/satellite box has RCA connectors (red/yellow/white), the included cables will get you up and running quickly. This device can also work with component jacks, but you will need to purchase the appropriate cables. There's an HDMI output that can be used to connect to an HDTV, or you can use one of the connection options mentioned earlier. The picture quality is quite good and the DVD recording is done in a standard DVD). As this is a 'tunerless' device, you cannot watch one program while another is being recorded. Also, if you don't have cable/satellite TV, you'll need another device as you won't be able to change channels or even connect it. But if you're looking for a decent device and you have a cable/satellite box, this device is worth the price.

Pros
  • HDMI out
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
