I was wondering if the grille in the window would be strong enough to support this cat flap, especially when I took it out of the box - it feels solid and heavy. I followed the advice of other reviewers and made sure the opening was large enough for the hinged door to open, which gave it a lot more support under the frame. Even now after a few months there is no sagging of the screen. This is a relatively narrow screen window in the bedroom, but I don't think it matters - this design is good. The only thing I didn't think of is that the door closes with a magnet and that magnet works to hold it in place. closed. My cat is feral and won't push open the door even though she does with the regular cat door we have with the vinyl flap.
