The trigger mechanism can be a bit tricky to learn how to spin properly but it doesn't interfere with play, even my older kids learned it. It's just mesh stretched across the door, so I don't think it will provide enough support for a determined pet, but it worked great for my child (although she tried to squeeze through the gap below! ) I *much* We recommend using a bubble level to ensure the template is perfectly vertical on both sides of the door. I have one side perfectly vertical and the other almost (and we're talking 1/4" or less), and the fabric has visible sag because of this. Luckily, the sag was at the top of my collar, not down, so my kid took it can't use to push through from underneath.The individual spacers were easy to install along with the gate due to my thick and tall baseboards.The instructions were clear and there were templates for each configuration and direction.You can install your own gate it made it easy.
