The best smartphone car mount I've ever had!

First of all I would like to say that I have bought different types of car mounts in the past but this is the only one that really suits me. To be honest I love this business. My car is old enough that I still have a CD player and as a bonus I have an extra "navigation" CD slot that is separate from my CD player for my obsolete navigation CDs to use with an older car navigation system. As the navigation CD slot is unused and ideally positioned high up on the dashboard, it was only a good decision in terms of 'placement of a smartphone car mount'. I decided to add a metal plate to the outside of my ballistic jacket case. They're no longer made, but they were way better than the Otters (just for comparison, to give people an idea of metal plate placement for this car mount), which is probably why the plate is placed in the phone case or case at the The outside of the phone case (not the ballistic case itself) just didn't make a strong bond with the magnet. Placing the magnetic plate on the outside of the ballistic case caused absolutely no problems with my handling of my phone in normal mode. Use when removing phone from car mount. It's a thin sheet of metal that doesn't add body thickness to the form factor. People who have trouble making a strong magnetic connection might consider this. A note, I wear this during the hot summer months. After about 3 weeks the glue broke and the phone fell off the mount and the metal plate attached to the car mount magnet instead of sticking to the case. Satisfied with the overall performance of the magnetic connection to the mount, I simply applied superglue to the metal plate and everything has been perfect ever since. I have experience installing the magnetic mount so that the phone is perfectly vertical. . When you hit those awful potholes (I try to avoid them because of my car's suspension, but sometimes you just can't avoid them or they sneak up on you), the jolt will send the phone out of its holder. The solution is simple and is to tilt the magnetic mount so that the phone is slightly tilted so that the vertical push force of the car on the mount has some upward horizontal opposing force against the vertical downward movement. Works perfectly. My phone caused absolutely no ill effects due to the proximity to the magnet attachment point. For those who say the magnet isn't strong enough, I would suggest buying a stronger magnet and putting it on an already magnetized mount. Problem solved. I didn't have to do this, but instead of throwing away my money on a perfect car mount, just throw in pennies to fix your magnetic connection if moving the metal plate on the outside of the case still doesn't work. They (after all some phones or some phones + their case can be quite heavy and you may need a bit more reinforcement, although my Samsung S5 phone with its ballistic case and slight mount tilt is all I need to get a strong enough to establish a magnetic connection). I'm glad I took the risk of buying another car mount. It was worth it this time!
