I purchased these swim leggings specifically to swim laps. I live in Southern Florida and the sun scorches your body even early in the morning. I was hoping that the leggings would live up to their claim of SPF 50 since my skin was drying out and burning from daily swim exercises in a bikini. I wasn't disappointed. I've not used any sun block on my legs and have had no trouble, I swim laps around 8:30am till 9:00am then do water aerobics for about forty minutes in the shaded part of the pool. I've used these every day, thrown them in the washing machine with a very small amount of detergent, then hang to dry, usually outside for about fifteen minutes. They spring back like new. Tonight I ordered three more pairs, I like them that much. This is a good quality product that protects my skin. Remember though, I swim early and try to catch as much shade in the lap pool as possible.
