I searched all over the local shops for a reasonably priced stool with a neutral but interesting design that could be used as a footstool. It was exactly the size and style I envisioned BUT I was very concerned about the potential smell. To my relief, this pouf doesn't offend my nose. It's the smell you get when you're shopping for leather coats or looking at handbags at art fairs on a hot day. If that leather smell bothers you, you probably need to buy a non-leather pouf. This item has such beautiful coloring. I had some concerns that it would be too "blah" but it really brings the beige decor to life without screaming "look at me". Photos from other reviewers show how good it looks. I filled mine with a body pillow, a standard bed pillow, and a patio seat pillow I had lying around. It fills it out well but not tight enough to sit on. BEWARE - the zipper has nylon teeth but the pull is large and metal. So if you have hardwood floors or just hate seeing a dangling zipper, you'll need to tape it under the zipper flap.
