Perfect fit for my older Chihuahua

Update: Based on how much I liked my first purchase of this coat (see photo) I also bought the blue leopard print coat. This version has some advantages and disadvantages. It's the same style and cut as the blue coat, but it's lined with another layer of sweatshirt (grey). It makes the coat a lot warmer (for), makes it tighter (for or against depending on what you need), but doesn't come with the D-rings that the original coat has that most people use for leash hooking use (con for me). If you just need a very warm coat for your little guy that you're not going to be using as a dog coat, you should be fine (pyjamas?), but for me, based on my usage and weather, I wouldn't buy this one style again. I find him too heavy to wear a fair-weather harness, and since Max is an adult dog, I don't force him to sleep in a coat that might pinch him or make him uncomfortable at night; He has a warm bed, lots of dog blankets and I :- } to keep him warm at night. photo of this version) and that's my minus. I won't be returning the leopard print version either (it's really well made and fits well) but I don't think I would buy it again. I might try sewing on a leash if I think I'm ambitious enough to try. First Review: I bought this coat for my 12 year old Chihuahua Max. I assumed it would be added to his (significant) collection of well-meaning but ill-fitting coats, sweaters, etc. I was surprised that it fit perfectly. He weighs about 6 pounds. 13" chest and 8.5" neck and I ordered the X-Small. This coat fastens easily, doesn't stand up too high in the neck, has roomy armholes and a higher vent at the bottom so I don't have to worry about it peeing on it on my daily outings. I cannot stress enough the importance of measuring your dog's chest, neck and length to ensure you get the correct size. Max has been wearing the same coat size since we rescued him at 4.5lbs. through his "chubby days" at 6.9 pounds. 'now only about 6 pounds. - So weight is not a good benchmark when buying a coat for your little guy. I bought so many coats of all kinds for Max and as he got older the zip back style became the best for him. Coats pulled over his head don't work because he "falls out" easily, and when he's older (arthritis) he doesn't like having his small legs or shoulders pulled. The closure at the front of the neck and chest looks nice and seems to fit well, but while wearing it the coat ends up slipping to the side, taking away its purpose of keeping warm. Also, I can't keep them on him for long when he's off the leash because he could turn inward and pull one or both front paws through the hole in his neck, which could be dangerous if he tries to run. in this way. I was thrilled to find that this coat is very soft and warm and seems quite comfortable for him. His other zipback coats have a fairly long stand-up collar. He looks like he's wearing one of those Elizabethan-style collars for injured dogs that hinder his movement and vision from time to time. I was able to get them to work by tucking in the collar and then zipping up just behind the D-rings where the leash attached. But this coat requires no customization. He also seems happy to let me carry him when it gets a little chilly in the house.
