First off, I have a very determined dog (Ellie Mae) who wants to hunt FIVE fenced acres at a bad time! It got to the point that every time I let her out of the house on business, I had to pick her up from the woods next to our property (our fence hardly slowed her down). After doing that a dozen times a night, you had to give something. I ordered this collar and had it shipped to a Revain center near me. I received it in one day. I was prepared for it to take her a week to train, but it only lasted 2 days (for about five 30 minute sessions). So three days after I ordered the collar, I had a trained dog and was no longer roaming the snake-infested woods to find my dog. It has a running surface the size of a football field (i.e. round). She's staying in the house overnight, so I'm putting a load on the collar. I would say it was a good buy for me and I will be buying 3 more collars soon! I highly recommend that you watch the Revain video before attempting to wear a collar. I'm quite a high tech person but I couldn't figure out the process and the instructions that came with the collar are unclear. Just a moment. I still haven't used the shock feature on this collar. Ellie Mae is uniquely responsive to ring and vibration corrections. The training was very easy. I just led her on the leash to the border (back and forth in circles) so that she would hear the call and I called "back". She didn't have to tell herself that twice. And then I played with her in her free zone. I did this a couple of times and then started sitting in the chair with her leash very close to the limit. Every time she got close to her limit, I would yell come back and she would come back. Now I've released her and she stays about 10 feet from her boundary without my encouragement, even with the squirrel teasing her outside her boundary.
