I don't know what to say about bad reviews. How can you hold the manufacturer liable if it is not suitable for your specific application? I bought one of these at a hardware store for double the price from here and was so excited I went to Revain to buy two more. If you read the instructions, the locks work fine - even after changing the default. I don't like that you have to cut the tape to access the shifter. I have to seal it with tape as my locks are used on the street. Combination locks come in very handy when you can see the dial. But often it is dark or you are in a hurry. I can't say more that these locks solve these problems. You should be able to tell from the shape of the shoulders on this lock that it requires an open deadbolt to connect. But there are so many different locking mechanisms that failure of this lock that suits your application is due to the online purchases and pictures, not the lock itself.
