🔒 Master Lock Cable Combination 8114D: Security and Convenience All-in-One Review

Part with locking mechanism made of cheap plastic. My bike was stolen literally 24 hours after it was locked from the outside. So part of the lock was so bad it was easy to break. The other bikes near my apartment are still there, so it's clear that this was my lock.

We got this to set the code we made a note of. It's relatively easy to use. The only trick is that if you don't straighten it out, the little person will have a hard time extricating itself if it has too much side load. All you have to do is twist to straighten it and you're good to go.

This is a good chain/rope lock for bicycle. It's a good length to fix almost anything. I would say that this thickness could still be cut with a lock cutter. I use it as a second padlock as I live in Chicago and bikes get stolen quite often. If that doesn't bother you too much, then this lock would be a great option.

The lock arrived with a broken end. I bought this brand of MASTER locks because I assumed their quality control would be higher than no name brands. I was wrong. The plastic part that is supposed to hold the metal cable in the housing was broken. Really bad design. I sent it back for a refund and will be looking for something else.

I really like these bungee locks as they are much easier to wrap around things like a lamp post or tree when there is no bike rack. The fewer keys I have the better, so a combination is the best way. This style can still be clipped compared to the U-lock, but if your bike is relatively cheap I recommend it in place of the U-lock. We've been using it for two years now. Seriously, if your bike is over $200 then just get a U-lock, otherwise it's a good buy.

Easy to use and reset combo. The problem is that it's TOO easy to reset the combo. When unlocking and locking, if you don't pay attention to where you pull the ends apart, the settings will shift. We blocked each other several times and had to find out which number had moved. Just don't drag your thumbs on the moving part and you'll be fine. Other than that, it's great quality. This lock does not meet my expectations. An accurate measurement/description of the cable thickness would be helpful. It turns out that the cable itself is super thin. The body feels thin and cheap. It doesn't take much manipulation to break. That being said, I wouldn't use this lock to lock my bike if it's out of sight for an extended period of time.
