Review on πŸ”Œ Syba 4-Port USB 3.0 & 2-Port SATA III PCIe 2.0 x1 Card with VLI/ASMedia Chipset - SD-PEX50064 by Don Pintac

Worse performance than SATA II on motherboard

Worse performance than my onboard SATA II ports - slightly better sequential read/write but worse random write IOPS. I made sure it was plugged into an adequate PCI-e 2.0 16X slot, installed the drivers etc. I contacted support and they emailed me quickly with questions but nothing after I answered them a few times would have. Not supplied with the cables pictured in the box (optional LED cable and optional power cable). that does not work. The packaging looked like it had been opened previously so I didn't trust the driver CD that came with it which looked very generic with no manufacturer's name or anything. The manual says to download the drivers from driver-download.com, a 3rd party driver site - I found that sketchy. I downloaded the drivers directly from the manufacturer's website (I usually do this with all hardware to make sure I have the latest drivers). I understand that this card is probably made by a company that is sold through various other companies, hence the unbranded driver CD and website, but that doesn't give me much confidence that the drivers are genuine and not infected with viruses. Get an OWC Accelsior S card, no drivers required, SDD mounts directly on it and offers excellent performance.
