That works fine. - Computers and Accessories

I inserted the card, plugged my SSD and power connector into the card, booted up with no problems. The Windows 8.1 AHCI driver worked fine for this, but I installed Syba Asmedia anyway, hoping I'd get better performance - it turned out the benchmarks between the two were roughly identical. and for speeds for my Sandisk 120GB Extreme II SSD. I compare it to the onboard SATA II (Intel ICH10R) on an Asus P5Q Pro motherboard. About 250 Mbit/s reading and writing in front of a Syba card, up to about

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • There are some nuances

TL;DR: SD-PEX50063 works well, SD-PEX50055 does not work. Works great on Ubuntu Linux 17.04 with KVM virtualization with intel_iommu=on. The USB controller works great with PCI passthrough, I've passed it to Linux and Windows VMs and they work great, while I left the SATA controller with disks for the host, which also works great. (I haven't tried passing the SATA controller to the VM.) YMMV, but I'm using two of these cards and each controller on each card gets its own IOMMU group, so I didn't

  • Could have chosen a newer model

This review is for 2-port SATA (internal) and 2-port USB 3.0 (external) card. Good map but with a few caveats. First, it's a PCI-E 3.0 x4-sized card, so you need a x4-sized slot. The box says it's just x2 - we'll delve into the discrepancy a bit. The SATA controller uses only one lane (x1) even though the card size is x4. I'm assuming the USB controller (eTron) uses only one lane as well. That's why it says x2 on the packaging. It works in a PCI-E 2.0 (or lower) slot, but the speed will be…

Handy solution

I liked how easy it was to install on an older AM2+ AS-Rock A770DE+ motherboard with 64-bit Windows 7. The card comes with a full-height bracket for standard ATX cases, but there's also a low-profile mount in the box. I can now run higher SATA/USB 3 speeds with a system that originally only supported SATA/USB2 speeds. Just make sure you have a x4 or x8 slot to plug this thing in. This doesn't work in a tiny 1x slot (at least not at full speed/features). In my case, I used a full 8x graphics…

Worse performance than SATA II on motherboard

Worse performance than my onboard SATA II ports - slightly better sequential read/write but worse random write IOPS. I made sure it was plugged into an adequate PCI-e 2.0 16X slot, installed the drivers etc. I contacted support and they emailed me quickly with questions but nothing after I answered them a few times would have. Not supplied with the cables pictured in the box (optional LED cable and optional power cable). that does not work. The packaging looked like it had been opened…
