I have not used it long enough to comment on the battery life. A little pricey but if you really want a leg up on catching pokemon, I would recommend investing in one. I use this bag for my Canon T6S with a 35mm plus an 85mm on the side. I think the padding is sufficient for keeping my equipment safe. The shoulder strap has no padding at all so if you're buying this bag definitely invest on a shoulder strap pad.
