I bought this expecting to ruin the first few pins after figuring this out. The reviews led me to believe it would be picky. I took the advice of most of them and used thicker paper for my first try. I cut a circle out of a piece of printer paper, a little lighter than cardboard, tried the steps and got the perfect pin! Place it in a 25mm diameter circle and place it on a 35mm diameter square background. I copied these images onto a 4x6 canvas, 8 per sheet, and printed them at Walmart for 25 cents a 4x6 print. That comes on the hair for over 3 cents a button. I used the circle cutter that came with it. By making the background accurate to 35mm, I could see exactly where to crop the image to get it centered. Every button I've made so far has been perfect. No unnecessary material. The machine seems solid and I hope it continues to run as well as before!
