Great idea with one flaw

Used in wine making. and I usually make enough wine each year to keep all my friends happy and well taken care of, but not enough to warrant a license. OK, pluses. This item occupies the same footprint as a regular bottle and is very easy to install. Unscrew the bottom valve and glass jar and leave the top lid on (after disinfecting, of course). The conical design allows the sediment to be channeled down to the valve, so when opened the sediment falls into the stone jar. The unit comes with a mason jar, but you can use larger jars if you want as long as it has a standard lid. Once you get to the filling step, you'll find a nozzle that allows you to use the same valve to fill bottles with the hose provided. The hose also has a handy lock to adjust the flow. Cons: It's dirty. I mean particularly dirty. This is where the stars go. When you attach the glass jar to the bottom, you need to tighten it firmly so that it doesn't leak, but not so tight that you can't end up removing the bottle (or changing the valve part of the device). Using the valve to dump sediment into a stone jar does it very efficiently, which is nice. However, if you close the valve and remove the can, the wine (or other liquid) will immediately begin to flow out of the can (the valve will close again). There will be more and more spillage as you unscrew the can and God forbid you accidentally move too fast and it's game over. take MOP. Do not perform this step near carpets or rugs. If you are reinstalling a jug, since there is likely to be sediment on several jugs (especially if you are using wood shavings in red wine), you must ensure that the threads on BOTH the jug and valve part are completely clean as wine residue can create a sticky seal , which will not detach in the future, because remember that it can spill. Learn from my naivety as I had to soak it in water overnight after the first batch. I recommend placing a bowl under the mason jar when you empty it, but have an old towel handy because you'll need it. In general, the idea is great, but there is one significant design flaw. Luckily I have a solution if the manufacturer reads this. I would recommend this article but now you have the knowledge to make the experience better than my first.

Pros
  • Handy thing
Cons
  • So far so good
