They are lightweight and while by no means heirlooms they are well constructed and represent excellent value for money. I've used one to sort crystals and stones and the end result is pretty good, all the stones are in their little geometric shaped compartments. I plan to use another to sort dried flowers or herbs for projects and I have so many to sort I should probably order another set of trays (or even 2)! They would also be beautifully painted with chalk or latex paint and/or added with decoupage. Alternatively, raw wood can be stained and then coated with polyurethane (or a tough, glossy coat of shellac) to enhance the natural wood and create a more durable finish. A wire or hook could be attached to the back, and the tray could be hung on the wall as a small shelf. These trays have so many uses - no frills or with almost limitless possibilities. If you're thinking about it, go ahead and buy it!
