Review on πŸ”₯ First Alert CO710: 10-Year Battery & Digital Temperature Display CO Detector by Hugo Caywood

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice standalone unit

Nice little detector. I have it on the shelf. Since I didn't have a CO leak thank goodness I can't say much about how good it is as a detector. However, this is a disposable device. Once the battery dies, the detector is dead too. That's good! With my old detectors, the 9 volt supply that powers them during a power outage needs to be replaced every year or two. This old fashioned First Alerts process is annoying as the battery door is awful and beeps when disconnected. Dangerous for hearing! I think this is the right way. A battery. The life of the alarm clock lasts. Replace the entire device when it indicates the battery is low. Since these devices are thrown away after completion, manufacturers must also include a free shipping label or allow you to send it back for proper recycling. Also, maybe offer a retractable block. Ditch the old shell, they'll send you new sensory guts that you put back in at little cost. The next step is to make them at the same price but ready them for Smart Home/HomeKit. The alarm clock app on your iPhone/device will alert you when carbon monoxide is detected whether you are at home or not. When the battery is almost empty, sends a warning. Maybe good. I have these alerts NOW with my EVE system for temperature, motion, air quality. I would also like a combined carbon monoxide and natural gas detector in one device. All alarms should only have one dead battery, this only harms one type of detector.
