I bought these to use in my windows for Christmas. They only work a few hours but so far I'm thrilled. (I know reviewers whose enthusiasm has waned over time, so I'll keep an open mind and update as needed). Things to Love: Real wax on the outside and they work with your candle holders. Other window candles I've had in the past have been plastic, built into candlesticks and painted with plastic to look like brass. They look much better and are more versatile. I might cut some wax to fit one of the narrower candle holders. As others have said, the mechanism is ingenious. The metal tube fits the wax candle. You can turn the candle on or off manually by pressing its "flame" or by using the remote control. Also the high height of the candle is nice and since I can use my own candle holders I was able to adjust the height for different windows with different candle holder sets. Cons: As others have pointed out, there's almost no flicker. I thought mine wouldn't flicker at all until I read the reviews. If I look very closely I can tell a VERY small difference between constant and flickering. So if you like shimmer, you will be disappointed. In addition, the remote control must be pointed at each candle individually. Not a big disadvantage. If the timer works (we'll see) then I don't need to do anything with them for a couple of weeks.
