I installed one on my grandmother's cedar chest and the other on an antique bench. They work great for me. I just didn't want a heavy hat to fall on my grandkids' heads when they decide to grab the toy. The instructions were confusing and I've read a lot of advice online about how others have designed their own rigs. I simply pulled the rod out and marked the holes to ensure all moving parts were fully functional when closed. That was the easiest way for me. I used masking tape to hold it in place while I marked the holes.
