I bought these for a toy box I was making. They were easy to install and the instructions weren't difficult to understand. The hardest part was that they were in the metric system so I had to use a different ruler. No real problems. What I did was trace the holes onto a piece of paper and then use the paper as a stencil to mark my holes.

I installed one on my grandmother's cedar chest and the other on an antique bench. They work great for me. I just didn't want a heavy hat to fall on my grandkids' heads when they decide to grab the toy. The instructions were confusing and I've read a lot of advice online about how others have designed their own rigs. I made a lid for a quilted chest, 42" x 17", cherry slats and rails with a maple top in the middle. I bought a pair of these lid holders and found I only needed one of these to have good lid control.
