The product I received was 'Stanley' brand not 'National Hardware' but it still does what it says on the Packaging says it's easy to install, inexpensive and looks solid. First of all the functionality. It works out? I can definitely answer yes to that. The optics are of decent quality and if you look inside out you get a good clear wide angle view of the space behind the front door, but if you try to look in from the outside you can hardly see anything. anything that eliminates the need for one of those little flip tops that people sometimes put in front of lower quality peepholes. Regarding the installation: You cannot see from the picture that the peephole consists of two parts, a thread outside and one inside. You should start by drilling a 1/2" hole in the door. I was a little nervous knowing my door was metal on the outside, but my regular Ryobi hand drill couldn't handle it. Just be safe.Do not use a tip bit for metal as this will only damage the tip, tip bits are for wood then insert the lens part from the outside and the other part from the inside and screw the inside tip onto the outside, the two small notches match that exactly Size of the quarter used with the screwdriver, which is probably what you want to do unless you have a 1/2" screwdriver (do those even exist?). I wish the flange was up The inside would be a bit bigger to better hide any scratches on the surrounding paint but that's really a small issue Considering the solid metal construction and decent quality optics, the price seems right through us appropriate. Did I mention solid build? I wasn't expecting this, but this thing appears to be machined brass, and the nickel plating is strong and thick enough not to chip anywhere during installation.
