This is an inexpensive entry-level yo-yo. Both the male and female threads are metal, as is the bearing. The "Starburst Response" system is a plastic star pattern built into the inside of each half, near where the string is first wound onto the stem. It's simple and works well. On the other hand, the yo-yo doesn't carry much weight and therefore doesn't store much energy, making it difficult to perform tricks longer than 5 or 10 seconds. Also, when there are two strings between the halves (as is the case with string tricks), the yoyo will slow down very quickly.
