This is a great replacement for the worn door switches on your TJ. If you pre-adjust the switch to match the original being pulled, you should have no problem loosening the retaining clip so it can easily snap into the door frame. I have no idea what others are talking about, it's just self-optimization. All I can see is that the switch is defective. I ordered two and I'll admit I broke the first one trying to force it back into place. The problem isn't with the switch, it's because I don't know how to install it. See my photos. The one with three switches: the left one is the original one, the middle one is the one I adjusted and has the snap ring ready to install, and the right one is the one that came with it. Adjust it first and install the locking ring. So you can install it in the hole of the door frame, install it and everything is fixed. I'll order one for the one I broke.
