Broke within a month

Item arrived in good condition. Installation was easy. Worked a month and was broke. The tip came off and the plunger fell out. I'll see if I can get a replacement.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Reliability

Exact Replacement: Switch

This fits my 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ perfectly, although fit testing showed it was wrong. I used a deep socket as a tool to install it; I see that other methods can break the switch. 5 minutes work, works great.

Pros
  • Great Design
Cons
  • Some Imperfections

Look for another company

Item broke immediately. One of them was good out of the box, but the second one I put in it flew out of the spring pin. Without even touching it and without putting it in the hole it should go (simply by plugging in the electrical connection). The second was broken with a spring pin blown out, and neither of them can be repaired. Definitely not recommended, definitely looks like poor quality

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Nothing here

Broken during installation

I read reviews about what breaks during installation. I figured if I "set it right" by slowly closing the door, it would "adjust itself". Wrong, when I closed the door very slowly I heard it click as stated in other reviews but as soon as I opened the door it fell apart. It worked as it should before I attempted to have it fitted and it fits perfectly. I'll see if I can put it back together even if it doesn't work anymore. We will see.

Pros
  • Handy thing
Cons
  • A little torn

Incorrect switch number

These DS-534 multifunction switches are incorrectly advertised as suitable for my 2002 Jeep Wrangler Sport. My Jeep didn't have shifters when I got it in December 2016 so I figured they were a plug and play replacement. So I installed one of these and closed the door and it broke in half. After further research, I showed that they were about half an inch longer. I ended up going to the scrap yard and pulled two used ones from another Jeep TJ that worked fine, not sure what to do with the extra…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Questionable senior purchase

Install them correctly!

Works great. But you MUST install them correctly. I have to admit it was a pain to install. I used a deep socket to push the base of the switch. I had to move and push quite a bit, but eventually they came in. The switches felt too long compared to the originals, but as soon as I closed the door they adjusted themselves. It makes loud pops as it adjusts, but as long as you close the door slowly you should be fine. On the passenger side I had to press the switch to keep it from being smashed by…

Underdesigned!: Door Jamb

Purchased stock ignition parts as I was tall enough to see over the parts store counter. Needless to say, this product is not of the quality I have come to expect from them. I even paid a bit more for the SI part for fear of getting a cheap Chinese copy. But guess what's written on the side of that red box with a capital S. Made in China. Grrr! The one I received broke inside and shot me with a butt before I installed it. I'm not a mechanical engineer, but the inner spring is too thick for the…

Not the "standard " quality I've gotten used to over the years

So I bought two of these and they came with the bars already popping out (1st photo). I looked at my original where the shaft was tired and removed the top and spring but the bottom shaft is still stuck (2nd photo). I took pictures of the new ones and the tails that look like they're made out of cheap plastic (3rd photo). Visual comparison: The original is simply made of the "better" material. I have been buying standard products for 35 years and have always considered them high end. I think…

  • Sample for a year
Cons
  • Some issues

Works when installed correctly

This is a great replacement for the worn door switches on your TJ. If you pre-adjust the switch to match the original being pulled, you should have no problem loosening the retaining clip so it can easily snap into the door frame. I have no idea what others are talking about, it's just self-optimization. All I can see is that the switch is defective. I ordered two and I'll admit I broke the first one trying to force it back into place. The problem isn't with the switch, it's because I don't…
