B&D wasn't? - Sanders part

I thought Black & Decker was a decent quality tool brand that I could trust. The expectation of reasonable quality that I used to associate with B&D has led me to choose this instrument over other cheaper brands. I bought this hand sander for a small specific project that needed more maneuverability than my heavy machine. Offer here a compulsory grinding machine. I've used it very, very little, maybe a few times at best. I was very shocked when it broke on me. Apparently the rear end of the grinding surface is only connected to the engine with very thin PLASTIC attachments. Again, to be honest, I'm very frustrated because I thought Black & Decker's tools were better made and therefore more reliable than these. I kind of feel like they owe me a grinder that's been running for more than an hour? Maybe it was part of a production issue? Maybe the B&D tools aren't what they used to be?

Pros
  • Compact body and flat feet for maneuverability
Cons
  • Some issues
