I like the smoothness of the mat. The white background with blue lines is easy on the eye. However, all lines on the mat have the same intensity. 5-inch, 10-inch, 15-inch, etc. lines do not have thicker lines, so you need to count very carefully with each measurement. I've been using the mat for a few days now and have been cutting a lot. Fabrics - sometimes up to 4 layers of 100% cotton at a time and I didn't have any edge creases like other rugs. I don't know if it was the surface of the mat or just luck. By the way, that saved time. I am very happy that I ordered it. This is now my main cutting mat. The rug stays where I put it and I can easily see the measurement lines/marks through my quilting ruler. Very easy to align the cutting position correctly the first time.
