Review on Corsair iCUE H100i RGB Pro XT: Superior Cooling with 240mm Radiator by Jorge Bryant

Sturdy, quiet all-in-one, but not easy to install on AM4

Tl;Dr: This is a solid all-in-one. Some installation issues on AM4, but patience and perseverance did the trick. The cooling is at the level of high-quality air coolers, but runs very quietly. Long version: I use this to cool a moderately overclocked Ryzen 5 5600x. Obviously 360mm is a bit excessive for this processor, but why not? On a positive note, compared to my old Cooler Master Hyper 212+, my gaming temperature has dropped by about 2-3 degrees and the P95's temperature has dropped by about 5 degrees. What I like the most is how quietly it works! Unless I specifically turn the fans on, I almost never hear them because they never go above 30% - there's no need. When I'm not gaming I turn off the fans, run the pump in "quiet" mode and see temperatures mostly below 30C with occasional spikes up to 45C (probably due to the boost). Your mileage will vary, especially if you use a hotter chip, but that's too much for the 5600x to cool down. I usually have to play for an hour or more to get the water temperature up to 30°C. Cons: Mounting hardware "supports" AM4, but hardly. It took me 45 minutes to install the pump head into the AM4 mount the first time - very frustrating. When I did this a second time to replace the toothpaste with the Thermal Grizzly, I found it a lot easier, but there's a trick: you have to fully tighten the screws before attempting to install them. Then put on a bracket and tighten it 95%. Then you need to reattach the pump head, loosen the tightened screw, install the second bracket and quickly tighten both before you lose your grip. This is a lot harder than it seems. This AIO was clearly designed for Intel processors (insert eye rolls). Ugly: nothing really. I didn't share other people's difficulties with the installation at all.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Legacy
