Always be suspicious of plug-in fixes. It was easy enough to experiment with, so I gave it a try. Of course, I needed to improve the handling of my 2007 Suburban. Before that I had a 2001 Suburban with "oldtech" 5.3. It got 18+ mpg on the freeway at an average speed of 75 mph. This "new tech" 5.3 with all the AFM, alternator shutdown, etc. gets 16+ under the same conditions, along with various crazy shift patterns when driving around town or in street situations that require upshifting and downshifting. This is high tech for you. Installing this blocker for AFM immediately improved acceleration and shifting problems. After several tank fillings I see no increase in mileage. Maybe a little better in the city, only when driving, but not critical. The improved handling is worth the device price to me. I don't want to invest in a kit to remove all of the ACM hardware, so for now I'm happy with this improvement.
