EDIT: After 4 or 5 trims on the dog, the blades are no longer sharp enough to cut her hair. I will be buying a more expensive known brand clipper and I wouldn't buy this one again for a dog with regular shave needs.I had never used clippers to shave anything when I bought these, but I have a standard poodle and her groomer wasn't able to keep her as a client anymore. Instead of finding a new groomer in a busy environment I decided to learn to do it myself. Still learning but these clippers have been very straightforward and easy to use. My dog is afraid of the hair dryer but not the clippers and I don't find them to be excessively loud at all. She had mats from being overdue for grooming when I first started and this cut them right off. She is a big dog though, 50lbs and a full charge on these clippers does not last the entire job if I have to trim her whole body. Maybe someone who knows what they're doing who can move faster would get more out of it but I get about 75% done and it dies on me. I am also having trouble trimming her feet and between her toes but that could easily just be inexperience.
