Review on πŸ”Œ USB 3.0 Keystone Jack Inserts 5-Pack: Female to Female USB Adapters for Wall Plate Outlet Panel - Black by Payton Stovall

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is a straight connector, you cannot create an extension with USB A to USB A (crossover)

I bought 3 packs of 5 of this product and it does not work as I thought. I ran a lot of tests to see what's going on. I first connected the flash drive directly to USB 3.0 to test performance (image test #1). After that I used my computer to plug the USB-A to USB-A cable into connector #1 and connector #2 into the keystone jack to create an extension to connect the device (my idea was to use this transfer to another room for a wall). It doesn't work as I thought with an external drive, but it works like USB 2.0 with the same flash drive, speed increased from 240MB/s to 40MB/s reading and from 59MB/s to 29MB/s reading writing reduced. After a few days I was able to figure out what the problem was. I used USB AA and they usually overlap. I mean, pin #5 in connector #1 connects to pin #8 in connector #2, pin #6 to pin #7, pin #8 to pin #5, and pin #9 to Pin #6 (picture table). one). So if we use this type of cable and this keystone connector to create an extension, the result will be a little crossed and will not work to connect USB 3.0 devices, it will only work with USB 2.0 because the pins used for USB 2.0 do not be used (pin 1 to pin 4). For this to work, we need to use a dedicated USB-A to USB-A cable with VBUS and a direct data pair (table in Figure 3). In my case, I couldn't find this type of cable here at Revain, so I had to change the connectors right at the connector. You can see the picture how I crossed the pins to get a straight wire connection. Another option is also to cut the cable and create a straight cable. I think the latter option is better for performance. We can weld the wires and convert them back to aluminum to avoid interference. After these changes I tested and I can say that it works. like USB 3.0 (440 MB/s reading and 449 MB/s writing). I tested with an external M.2 drive. It would be nice to cross that Jackstone key to avoid the extra work, but I couldn't find a keystone USB A socket that crosses with a USB A socket.
