TL; DR1. USB mode is much dimmer than connected mode.2. Sometimes the display flickers in USB mode. This does not happen in connected mode. Tip: Use the Artograph Pad Pucks as a "stand" for this light mat. I love her. I bought this model after borrowing it from a friend. The return period has expired (I bought it in December last year) but I've only recently started using it a lot. I noticed that the light flickered when I switched from connection mode to USB mode. It's never the other way around. I definitely can't work with flickering lights, but I work near a power cord so this isn't usually an issue. But I didn't like the fact that the USB mode indicator was dimmer. I don't think this feature is mentioned anywhere in the product description (and I've never noticed this issue with my friend's light bar of the same model), so mine must be defective. But I really like how thin and light it is. I paint traditionally, so as long as I work with the power cord plugged in, I have no problems. Oh, and I really recommend using Artograph Pad washers instead of buying a stand for them. Shims are $10-$15 and are definitely more versatile than solid posts.
