I ordered a large bag because although my senior dog is only 9 pounds she has very long legs and I wanted the bag to be big enough for her. I've tried carrying her in my backpack when traveling but she was trying to get out and seemed a little more frustrated because she couldn't stick her face out. This carrier is great. Mind you, my dog is not crate raised at all and doesn't like being crated at all. BUT she got used to this bag very quickly and seems to like it a lot. She could keep her face open so she could see and smell everything that was going on. I asked my husband to tighten the straps around me as tight as possible to keep the bag from sliding down and leaning forward. It has a separate zipper from the face hole that you can unzip to easily fit your dog. The base is strong to keep my pup from drowning and can protect her face. There is a clip inside to attach it to the harness and a zip pocket on the front for ready snacks. Of course it can get a bit heavy after a while depending on how long you carry your dog around, but the straps stay put. cozy. Overall this was a great purchase for us and I would recommend it to others.
