Huge. 227 pieces is the largest Duplo set my 4 year old daughter has ever tried (same for me). The buildings are divided into separate rooms, so it is not one massive structure but 3 separate building rooms. This makes it more manageable. Universal. The instructions show 2 completely different build themes: one is a "home" theme and the other is a "school" theme. Both themes use the same blocks, but you only provide one building guide to each theme. Unique blocks. There are many unique Chinese New Year themed blocks/accessories that you will not find in any other Duplo.Cultural set. My Chinese relatives were probably just as interested in playing with them as my daughter. It was a great communication experience when they explained the Chinese characters to her. Of course, your mileage may vary. Meaning. If you can find this set at regular retail price ($99.99), that's a great price for 227 pieces.
