I actually bought this product to expand my dual monitor display. After my DP port went down, I needed a healthy alternative for my newly purchased refurbished computer. I've tried too many gadgets over the years to expand my dual monitor systems. This gadget worked flawlessly after running the included disc. When I connected it to the monitor for the first time, there was no signal. I just KNEW it was going to be another deadpan performance from the mines. After the drive installation was complete, my second monitor popped up like VOIL! I'm delighted with this purchase, it really works and doesn't even meet the required specs. I'm using USB 2.0 on a fairly well refurbished computer. So maybe it's important! I don't know but I am currently so happy with my purchase!
