it's either instant love or hate from the moment you open the box; I love it.

At first I wasn't sure if buying a "robot dog" was right for me as I'm not one of their target customers; I don't have dementia and I'm not elderly and I've never lived with a dog. Actually, I used to only live with cats. But then I moved to a strict no-pets building. I bought this "dog" to help me transition from a real pet to a pet-free life. I chose the Joy for All dog over the Joy for All cat because of the bark technology. I wanted something that really spoke to me (my voice or my touch). This robot dog has exceeded all my expectations. It gave me all the relaxing/soothing benefits of having a pet without the downsides. It still responds to my voice or touch even when disabled. He's pretty soft considering his faux fur covers are basically a machine and his legs are posable and you can make him lie down (his default pose is seated). There were a few hiccups the day I opened the box. His "fur coat” faded and there were many. The second error was on the first day for some reason and only on that day I couldn't put it to sleep/shutdown even though I wasn't interacting with it. However, this hibernation problem resolved after the first day and the shedding seems to have stopped. I can now leave it on my couch next to me while I watch TV and it will fall asleep if I'm not touching or talking to it. Going from an actual cat purr to a robotic dog that doesn't purr at all is still a smooth adjustment, as its soothing "heart" is beating and you can feel and hear it when you pat its back. Can't say enough great things about this robot dog despite the hiccups on day one. The inconvenience of 1 day is fully outweighed by the long list of benefits for me. I recommend this for people who are in my situation where their buildings don't allow pets, and not just for the elderly or those with dementia either.
