Review on Alarmpore (TM) 16.4FT Double Row 5050 RGBWW LED Strip Rope: 5M Flexible Tape Light for Home Decoration, Holiday & Wedding Lighting by Clinton Delgado

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A good choice for lighting an apartment is bright; nice colors

I was given two of these strips to attach (face up) to small battens I bought from Home Depot for indirect lighting in my apartment. I was a bit concerned that there wouldn't be enough light, but two strips are actually (surprisingly) enough as the main lighting for my 10x17 inch room. The white is a little colder than other "warm white" LEDs, but actually quite decent (I just leave the white channel for work, and occasionally switch the RGB to a dull red to warm up the white a little for chilling later in the evening ) Better than having something too warm in color that is harder to cool. I cut the strips at various points to create square connections at the corners (I then soldered small patch wires). It should be noted that (as you can even see from the photos in the Revain listing) the bookmarks are soldered. the pads are wrong (if the pins were actually +12V, ground and RGB then there would be no white) but you can observe the colors of the wires and use the controller to check if the colors are connected correctly (I was alone the situation , where green and blue were swapped, which was immediately apparent in testing). Keep in mind that the stripe is wider than individual rows, so anything designed for them (e.g. solderless connections, etc.) won't work directly. I connected each strip with a 5m extension cable (https://www.amazon.com). /dp/B013JRRPCG/) and then the Magic Home UFO controller (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MDKOSN0) - much better than the MiLight (which I used before and which doesn't even do the white and RGB channels converge) and cheaper than other options. Each controller is then connected to a 120W (12V/10A) power supply. No complaints yet!

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
