From time to time, some detergent leaked through the additives compartment into the laundry compartment of the washing machine until the dispenser seal finally failed. This was evident in the fresh detergent which left blue "stains" after the cycle was completed. After refilling the dispenser with detergent the next day, I found that it had all seeped into the drum, onto the door seal and onto the floor. I thought the gasket might be damaged or badly installed. However, after clearing up the mess, I examined the donor (using an endoscope to look inside) and found no obvious damage. I set up tests and each time the liquid eventually merges. Water took the longest, but the bleach, laundry detergent, and stain remover ran out within five hours. With the comment "fill it and forget it" you won't believe it. Part of the garbage. Maytag designed the gadget poorly and let the consumer down. The alternative is to add detergent to each load, well, that's only $25 wasted. By the way, Whirlpool is a plate manufacturer and that includes machines from several brands.
