I have a tiny USB-C multiport device that combines Ethernet and HDMI video in one device that I've used for several years and has worked reliably. The only problem is that its built-in USB-C dongle is very short, so it can be awkward to place. I ordered this with the intention of adding 3 feet to have more flexibility in placing the unit rather than literally hanging right off the side of my laptop. Ethernet earns instantly and quickly enough. Registered HDMI, Windows was sure it had a second display, but it actually didn't show anything. Branch rotated by 180* did not help. Sometimes my device wouldn't turn on at all when connected through this extension. Ethernet worked about 50% of the time, video never worked. I ordered 2 packs and had the same result with both cables. Connecting just a video device OR an ethernet device worked fine via an extension cable, but this cable and my dual purpose device really didn't like each other and I need something similar for this device. I'm not a USB guru, not sure what's going on, but it didn't end up working with a device that otherwise works fine if nothing changes except that this extension is removed from the middle of the chain. I'm giving it 2 stars because it physically looks like a good cable and the gigabit ethernet transmission was at full speed. If your needs are simple or you just need to expand your charger, this will likely work. If your needs are more interesting or challenging, all I can say is good luck.
