Review on πŸŽ™οΈ Enhanced RODE PSA 1 Studio Microphone Boom Arm with Swivel Mount by Chiyo Ogawa ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I am amazed at how well the product is made, just magically!

Heavy Shure sm7b holds perfectly, the microphone moves gently and is fixed in space. With the light Shure sm58, everything is much worse - the stand does not walk so pleasantly softly and everything strives to soar up (it has powerful springs that lay it out in an extended position without load), so a heavy microphone is needed for normal operation But there is a small problem with Shure sm7b - when the microphone is rotated around its axis, the thick XLR wire plug rests against the shiny lamb on the stand, preventing the microphone from turning 90 to the pantograph plane, the angle is no more than 70 degrees, I hope I explained it clearly. But this is only true if you mount the pantograph on your side. If it's in front of you, then there's no problem. But even if on the side, like me, there are solutions: 0. Continue to use like this, it is still recommended not to speak directly into the microphone, but to hold it at an angle to your mouth to avoid blowing air into it 1. Buy XLR Extension tube 5/8 inch from aliexpress for 300. A small black tube - which is inserted between the microphone and the pantograph, moves the microphone away from it and makes it possible to turn without problems 2. Unscrew the lamb, use a regular nut instead 3. Use not a straight, but an angled XLR cable (or an angled XLR adapter)

Pros
  • It perfectly holds a heavy microphone in space, the landing pin in the clamp sits tightly, does not stagger, it is pleasant to use
Cons
  • Not suitable for lightweight microphones Specifically, there is a slight incompatibility with Shure sm7b, see comment

I cut myself when I tried to tighten it harder, tore off the slot on the bolt.

With its pros. Easy to buy because everywhere Cons: Does not hold shure sm58 in the lower position, lifts up, weights are needed, for example, a pair of wrenches for 24

It may seem a little bulky, you should figure out how it will be located on the table in advance
