I love taking pictures of deer, gray foxes, bears and even the rare lynx that roam around my cabin with my camera. I've tried different brands but found that one or more of the features let them down: either they're too slow to trigger, or they have poor image quality (whether day or night), or both. This camera seems to work fairly well either way, although getting the settings exactly how I want it is a bit tricky and will require a bit more trial and error. First Impression: If your area has pirates active on the porch, you might want your game cam shipped to the Revain Locker! The camera did not ship in a normal shipping box, but arrived in a ready-made box with a shipping label on one side: you could see what was in the box and the box was easy to open (no tape). The camouflage detail on the front of the camera is very dark green on black - not too much contrast (if that's important to you). The camera comes with a tree mount strap and a simple threaded wall mount for more permanent positioning (I'm a mount but might be tempted to use a wall mount at some point) Setup: There are MANY options for sensor sensitivity, frame rate, video resolution and images, image updates etc. It's a little tricky and some of the options aren't particularly intuitive (and I've used quite a few trail cameras). The control buttons are a bit "clicky" - I mean, they're plastic and literally click with each press. I prefer a softer rubber handling, but maybe that's just me. I'd also prefer the OK button to be in the middle of the up, down, left, and right buttons - more intuitive controls than the OK button on the side. couldn't get it to work. I followed the instructions and even emailed Rexing to ask for a link to their recommended app when the Trail Cam app wasn't working for me. The app I was linked to is called TimaCam (not mentioned in the instructions) but I refused to install it when the app took me to a website asking for my credit card info! No thank you! Results: Image quality is fairly good - colors are pleasing (not oversaturated) and images are generally sharp and large at the highest resolution settings. The video is smooth, color and resolution are again satisfactory. Night vision is always a good balance to get it right - I would say this camera is typical of animals close to the camera flashing bright white until they are at least 6-8 feet away. The deer still looked pretty sharp about 25 feet from the camera. Overall I'm very happy with the camera and looking forward to capturing those elusive bears and lynx.
