Review on Granite Ware Covered Round Roaster by Diane Hubert

Revainrating 5 out of 5

What's not to love! Look at these measurements.

I only wanted to give 4 stars because other reviewers were concerned about the longevity of the pan. However, my pan has no visible defects, it is uniform and solidly made, the lid fits perfectly and the price is very reasonable. Also, I've already used this pan to bake bread for one of those "craft" recipes and the bread was pretty good - hence 5 stars! When baking bread, this pan is much safer to use than cast iron or earthenware. Ovens typically recommended for baking "artisan" bread at home. These cookers need to be preheated in the oven to around 450-500F (seriously, wow!), which means the oven itself is heated to around 500F, which then has to be manipulated to place bread dough in it. I'm not confident enough in my skills on the stove to risk a 3rd degree burn. So I took a chance on this pan getting the job done without preheating and heating up quickly in the oven AFTER the batter is in. That should be the case, because I think the bread turned out very well. I would add a photo of that loaf, but the knife came out long before the camera (no one can resist a slice of freshly baked bread, yum!). Product size here at Revain is usually lacking (to say the least), so I measured mine: *Liquid capacity is 3 liters (could hold more, but that's about max cooking power) *Base internal 8.5"W x 3" H (Straight Side) * Inner Lid is 2" deep with center beveled at 1" on edge (with self-drilling recesses) * 5-3/4" height with lid on base * Width 10" diameter over edge (no handles to base) Haven't used this on my gas range but don't expect a problem as it has held up perfectly in the oven to nearly 500F. I hope this review and measurements are helpful.
